MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, MALANG – Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) has taken a significant step towards internationalizing its programs by fostering a strategic partnership with the Italian Consulate in Florence. The visit of the Honorary Consul, Jacopo Cappuccio, on August 5 marked the initiation of discussions for potential collaborations between UMM and Italian universities.
Jacopo expressed deep admiration for UMM commitment to community development and resource management, highlighting the university’s innovative initiatives such as the Professor for Community Development program and the utilization of micro-hydroelectric power. He emphasized the potential for fruitful collaborations in research, technology transfer, and student exchange programs.
“The potential for collaboration between UMM and Italy is vast, ranging from research to the implementation of research findings. UMM boasts a wealth of talented professors, and student exchange programs could be a valuable avenue for knowledge transfer,” said Jacopo in a press release on Thursday (August 8).
Priyo Iswanto, Special Staff to the Rector for International Cooperation, highlighted UMM extensive network of international partnerships. The university is actively seeking opportunities to expand its global reach and engage in collaborative projects.
“This partnership with the Italian Consulate represents UMM commitment to internationalization. We are eager to explore opportunities for student and faculty exchange, as well as joint research initiatives.”
Following this visit, UMM plans to send students to the University of Florence for exchange programs and five nurses from its university hospital to Italy for a knowledge transfer program.
