MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, YOGYAKARTA – President of Muhammadiyah Haedar Nashir expressed his support for the ceasefire between Iran and Israel after eleven days of conflict. He emphasized that peace should be the solution and violence must no longer be an option in resolving disputes.
Speaking during a meeting with the Iranian Ambassador to Indonesia, H.E. Mohammad Boroujerdi, in the Unified Global Hijri Calendar (UGHC) launch at Universitas ‘Aisyiyah Yogyakarta on June 25, Haedar stressed the importance of choosing peaceful paths in today’s world.
“We hope this ceasefire becomes a lasting solution,” said Haedar. “In this modern era, solving problems through violence and war should not be an option—let alone the first one.”
Haedar also thanked the Iranian government, represented by the ambassador, for attending the UGHC launch. He viewed the participation as a sign of support for the Muhammadiyah initiative to promote the global use of the Hijri calendar across the Muslim world.
Meanwhile, Ambassador Mohammad Boroujerdi affirmed that Iran does not seek conflict, but will always defend itself if attacked. He also encouraged the global community to remain united and avoid being misled by divisive narratives, especially those spread through media by Israel.
“Iran is not an aggressor. However, we will defend ourselves against any form of attack. People must not allow themselves to be divided, especially by media narratives that spread conflict.” said Mohammad Boroujerdi.
