Promoting Cooperation and Understanding: Muhammadiyah’s Meeting with CPPCC Xinjiang Committee

MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, JAKARTA – The Chairman Muhammadiyah Irwan Akib and General Secretary of Muhammadiyah Abdul Mu’ti welcome a delegation of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) of Xinjiang at the Muhammadiyah Office of Jakarta on Tuesday (October 17).

“They reported an update on the current condition of Muslims in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of the People’s Republic of China. The Chinese government commits to prioritize the well-being of various ethnic groups, including Muslims, and guarantees human rights and the religious freedom through laws. Indeed, the country has provided coaching for Muslim scholars,” said Irwan Arkib after the meeting.

Besides, the CPPCC Xinjiang Committee expressed a strong desire for collaboration with Muhammadiyah in three critical areas: education, da’wa, and humanity. This collaboration seeks to promote mutual understanding and bolster the ties between the organizations as they work toward shared objectives. Both parties emphasized their commitment to cooperation and goodwill in their joint efforts.

The delegation also cordially invited Muhammadiyah representatives to visit Xinjiang’s autonomous region in person. It underscores the significance of creating networks and promoting collaboration between Xinjiang, the Indonesian government, and Muhammadiyah. Such cooperative initiatives are instrumental in establishing a more robust and inclusive partnership designed to serve the common good.
