MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, YOGYAKARTA – A remarkable milestone has been achieved by Rizky Ridho Ramadhani, defender of the Indonesian National Team and active student of the Management Study Program at Muhammadiyah University of Surabaya (UM Surabaya). Ridho has officially been selected as a nominee for the 2025 FIFA Puskas Award, making him the first Indonesian player ever to enter this prestigious global shortlist for the best goal of the year.
Ridho, who currently plays for Persija Jakarta, earned his nomination thanks to a stunning long-range goal against Arema FC in Liga 1 Match on March 9, 2025. Striking the ball from the halfway line, his shot soared beyond the reach of Arema goalkeeper Lucas Frigeri, a moment FIFA deemed one of the finest goals of the year. Ridho now stands alongside world-class players such as Declan Rice (England/Arsenal) and Lamine Yamal (Spain/Barcelona).
Radius Setiyawan, Vice-Rector for Research, Cooperation, and Digitalization at UM Surabaya, expressed great pride in the University’s sixth semester student through an official statement (14/11). He encouraged the public to support Ridho through the voting system on FIFA’s official website.
“This is not just Ridho’s personal achievement, it’s a moment of pride for all Indonesians. Let us work together to help Ridho win the 2025 Puskas Award,” he stated.
Radius added that this accomplishment proves that young Indonesian talents are capable of competing on the global stage. He emphasized that every vote matters in pushing Ridho toward victory.
