MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, JAKARTA – Lazismu, the Muhammadiyah Department of Charity Management, launched the Peduli Guru program to support the welfare of teachers, especially those in remote and underserved areas.
As part of the program, 1,000 non-permanent teachers received financial assistance which was symbolically handed over at the Muhammadiyah office, Jakarta on October 21.
Ahmad Imam Mujadid Rais, the Chairperson of Lazismu, emphasized the importance of supporting teachers.
“Teachers often work tirelessly with limited resources, especially those in remote areas. Lazismu is committed to recognizing their contributions and improving their well-being,”: said Mujadid Rais.
The Peduli Guru program is a collaboration between Lazismu and Permata Bank Syariah, providing a total of IDR 500 million in financial assistance to non-permanent teachers within Muhammadiyah and ‘Aisyiyah institutions. Mujadid Rais expressed gratitude to Permata Bank Syariah for partnering with Lazismu in this initiative.
Previously, Lazismu had collaborated with USAID Catalyze to assist non-permanent teachers with outstanding BPJS Kesehatan contributions.
Meanwhile, Rinaldi Agustian Aziz, Head of Syariah and Consumer Banking at UPZ Permata Bank Syariah, highlighted the importance of inclusive Islamic finance.
“We hope that through this collaboration, the benefits of Islamic finance can reach more people,” said Rinaldi.
Besides, the Chairperson of ‘Aisyiyah Council for the Early Childhood, Primary, and Secondary Education Fitni Wilis emphasized the significance of early childhood education.
“Aisyiyah has been providing early childhood education for over a century. Despite this, many of our early childhood educators still face challenges, especially in terms of welfare,” said Fitni.
She called for greater collaboration between government, non-governmental organizations, and other stakeholders to improve the welfare of educators.
