MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, JAKARTA – The Central Board of Muhammadiyah has strongly supported the “Save Our School” program launched by the Muhammadiyah Department of Charity Management (Lazismu), emphasizing the need for community involvement and transparency to ensure its success.
Secretary of Muhammadiyah Muhammad Izzul Muslimin said that the program would only succeed if people are actively involved.
“Save Our School is a participatory program because it involves the community and all stakeholders. That’s why it needs to be well-communicated and widely known,” said Izzul in the program kick off on Tuesday, May 6 at the Lazismu office.
Izzul also stressed that Lazismu must be transparent and accountable. The public should know how the funds are used and which schools receive the support.
Meanwhile, speaking virtually at the event, Indonesia’s Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Abdul Mu’ti praised the educational focus of the program. He acknowledged Lazismu efforts in using donations, including zakat and infaq, to help underpaid teachers and provide scholarships for students in need.
“I know Lazismu has been using its donations to support education, ensuring that disadvantaged students can continue learning,” said Mu’ti.
Mu’ti highlighted that providing access to education is a meaningful way to serve Allah and support human progress.
“Donating to education is part of our duty to build a better generation for the future,” he said.
Mu’ti also appreciated Lazismu creative approach and commitment to investing in human resources.
“Lazismu programs show a clear dedication to education and the future of this nation,” he added.
Mu’ti closed his remarks by expressing hope that the program would align with the government’s education policies.
“I hope this initiative can be integrated with the Ministry of Education’s efforts, so we can move forward together,” he said.
