MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, EGYPT – Muhammadiyah Aid, through the Muhammadiyah Department for Charity Management (Lazismu), remains committed to helping Palestinians affected by an ongoing conflict. As part of its humanitarian efforts, the Lazismu team inspected the production of temporary shelter tents in Egypt before sending them to Palestine to provide much-needed housing for refugees.
On Monday, February 24, Muhammadiyah humanitarian volunteers visited a tent production site in Ismailia, Egypt, to assess the quality and readiness of the shelters.
Director of Utilization and Distribution of Lazismu Ardi Lutfi Kautsar explained that the visit was to ensure the tents met high standards of durability and comfort, making them suitable for extreme weather conditions and refugee needs.
“These tents were originally made in Turkey, but now our partners in Egypt can produce them locally at a lower cost, with high quality, and better shipping access to Gaza,” said Ardi.
Each tent is 4×4 meters and designed for families. “These tents are spacious and comfortable, providing enough space for five to six people,” added Ardi.
The tents are built with sturdy metal frames and covered with durable tarpaulin. Ardi also pointed out that they have three layers, including a fire-resistant material.
“If a small fire breaks out, it won’t spread easily, making these tents safer from fire hazards,” he explained.
He emphasized that this initiative is made possible by the generosity of Indonesians, who continue to stand with the Palestinian people.
“We want to ensure that this aid truly benefits our brothers and sisters in Palestine. These tents will provide them with a safe and dignified temporary shelter,” Ardi said.
Beyond providing tents, Lazismu remains committed to delivering various forms of humanitarian aid. This effort is part of Muhammadiyah larger mission to support those in need through strategic partnerships and ongoing relief initiatives.
