MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, ISLAMABAD— The Indonesian Ambassador to Pakistan, Adam Mulawarman Tugio, inaugurated the Muhammadiyah Islamic Center in Sector I-11/2, Islamabad, Pakistan on Saturday (29/04).
According to Adam, the presence of Muhammadiyah in many countries, particularly Pakistan, will benefit its members, enhance Indonesia’s international reputation, and significantly contribute to global communities.
“I appreciate everyone engaged in the establishment of Muhammadiyah in Pakistan. This is an expansion of Muhammadiyah in Indonesia. I believe that Muhammadiyah will give greater contribution over and over to Muhammadiyah members, Indonesia, and international communities,” said Adam.
Adam mentioned that many Pakistanis admire Indonesia as a role model of Islam Berkemajuan (progressive Islam). He also told how Muhammadiyah and its figures got involved in formulating Indonesia’s constitution and making it a diverse nation.
Muhammadiyah is always expected to benefit many people, particularly Pakistanis.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Muhammadiyah Special Branch of Pakistan Hafidz Adhi mentioned four strategic functions of the Islamic center, namely the center of activities, Muhammadiyah business, the center of Tapak Suci training (a popular local medium for Islamic da’wa), and the office of the Muhammadiyah Special Branch of Pakistan.
“We attempt to build a comfortable home, a peaceful place to return, and a conducive atmosphere for growing and being independent,” said Hafidz.
Hafidz encouraged all Muhammadiyah members to support the development of the Islamic center, so the Muhammadiyah Special Branch of Pakistan could be independent and undertake internationalization programs of Muhammadiyah.
