MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, YOGYAKARTA — ‘Aisyiyah, a women’s wing of Muhammadiyah, conducted an online training on neonatal resuscitation as a prevention to stunting at the early stages of life.
Supriyatiningsih, the Project Manager and Clinical Setting Coordinator of the ‘Aisyiyah Neonatal Program, said that ‘Aisyiyah and the Muhammadiyah Council for Public Health in collaboration with the Leo & Mia Foundation has organized a premature infant health intervention program since 2021.
The Leo & Mia Foundation is a non-governmental organization based in London, the United Kingdom, focusing on reducing premature deaths worldwide.
According to Supriyatiningsih, through this collaboration, ‘Aisyiyah attempted to improve the capacity of preterm infant care in hospitals and strengthen roles of ‘Aisyiyah members in supporting mothers with preterm infants.
Indeed, the project aimed at encouraging parents to come to visit healthcare or growth monitoring, supporting teenage girls and couples to maintain their reproductive health, and preventing preterm birth and stunting.
“‘Aisyiyah has carried out clinical and community approaches to provide healthcare for preterm infants,” said Supriyatiningsih in the Refreshment Training on Neonatal Resuscitation on Wednesday (29/3).
“Neonatal resuscitation refers to a clinical skill that health workers in primary and advanced healthcare must have. We, ‘Aisyiyah, are proud of having pediatricians concerned about empowering communities and improving their clinical skill.
Supriyatiningsih hoped that healthcare professionals, including nurses and doctors, would always devote themselves to providing healthcare to save lives of preterm infants.
“This program is expected to enhance skills of health professionals, including doctors and nurses, in emergency departments, primary healthcare, and hospitals. dr. Mohammad Komarudin and dr. M. Bambang Edi Susyanto will discuss prematurity treatment and management,” said Supriyatiningsih.
For information, dr. Mohammad Komarudin is the President Director of RS PKU Muhammadiyah as well as a pediatrician, while dr. M. Bambang Edi Susyanto is a pediatrician at Asri Medical Center (AMC), Yogyakarta.
