Malaysia’s Minister of Higher Education Lauds Muhammadiyah’s Vision

MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, JAKARTA – The Minister of Higher Education of Malaysia Dato’ Seri Haji Mohamed welcomed partnerships between the Ministry of Higher Education of Malaysia and Muhammadiyah.

The collaboration will strengthen bilateral relations between Malaysia and Indonesia and advance people and human resources in Southeast Asian countries.

Furthermore, Dato’ Seri Haji Mohamed highly praised Muhammadiyah’s progressive interpretation of Islam, which aligns with the aspirations for a global civilization.

“We admire Muhammadiyah for its concept of ‘Islam Berkemajuan‘ (Progressive Islam), which, in our belief, demonstrates how Islam embraces modernity and stands as a progressive religion,” said Dato’ Seri Haji Mohamed in his visit to the Muhammadiyah Office of Jakarta on Monday (July 17).

Thus, the cooperation will focus on education, science, and technology through joint research, student exchange programs, and link and match of education for economists of both nations.

“We will also establish a committee to explore the possible collaboration further. It will enable us to remain firm to achieve our common goals,” said Dato’ Seri Haji Mohamed.

Representing the Malaysian government, Dato Seri Mohamed Khaled expressed his admiration for Muhammadiyah’s efforts in establishing UMAM. The university benefits not only Muhammadiyah but also the Malaysian government.

“The UMAM in Perlis is wholeheartedly welcomed. It provides an opportunity for Malaysians and other nations to see Malaysia as a center for higher education. Students can choose to pursue their study at the UMAM,” said Dato’ Seri Haji Mohamed.

“UMAM’s establishment aligns with Malaysia’s vision of nurturing talent for all nations and signifies external recognition and confidence in Malaysia’s higher education system. It will undoubtedly foster stronger cooperation and collaborations and introduce Malaysian universities to Muhammadiyah universities.
