MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, JAKARTA – In a move to strengthen ties and explore potential collaboration, Dato’ Arif Perkasa Dr. Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin, better known as Dr. Maza, the Mufti of Perlis, Malaysia, led a delegation on a visit to Muhammadiyah on Wednesday, February 18.
President of Muhammadiyah Haedar Nashir, General Secretary Abdul Mu’ti, Secretary General, and Chairmen Syafiq Mughni, Syamsul Anwar, and Agus Taufiqurrahman received the delegation.
Following their productive meeting, Syafiq Mughni revealed that discussions centered around exploring potential collaborations between Muhammadiyah and the Kingdom of Perlis in the fields of economy and healthcare.
“We see significant potential for collaboration and plan to move forward with concrete steps to implement it,” said Syafiq. “One promising area for joint efforts is the provision of healthcare facilities for aspiring migrant workers destined for the Middle East, whose numbers are steadily rising.”
Dr. Maza highlighted the unique and strong bond that already exists between Perlis and Muhammadiyah, further bolstered by the recent establishment of a Muhammadiyah university in Perlis.
“We are eager to build economic and business partnerships with Muhammadiyah,” Dr. Maza stated. “Our aim is to strengthen the Muslim community’s economic standing, particularly in healthcare and insurance sectors. We hope this collaboration between our countries will empower the Muslim community, enabling them to transition from solely being consumers to becoming producers with a competitive edge.”
This meeting signifies a significant step towards strengthening ties between Muhammadiyah and Perlis while fostering future collaborations in areas of mutual interest. The potential for joint efforts in the fields of economy and healthcare holds promise for positive impacts on the Muslim communities in both Indonesia and Malaysia.
