MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, JAKARTA – Muhammadiyah warmly welcomed the visit of the Imam of the Prophet’s Mosque Sheikh Ahmed Al-Huthaifi and his entourage to Indonesia.
During the meeting, the Muhammadiyah General Treasurer Hilman Latief highlighted the historical connection between Muhammadiyah and the Islamic world, particularly the two holy mosques in Mecca and Medina.
“For 112 years, Muhammadiyah has been dedicated to education and healthcare, establishing hundreds of universities, thousands of schools, and hundreds of hospitals. Our founder was inspired by the imams of Mecca and Medina, and upon his return, he founded Muhammadiyah. On behalf of Muhammadiyah, I would like to express our gratitude to the Saudi Arabian Ambassador and the Islamic Affairs Consul for their continued support and attention. We are also grateful for the opportunity to meet with the Imam of the Prophet’s Mosque,” said Hilman at the meeting on Wednesday, October 9.
Meanwhile, Sheikh Ahmed Al-Huthaifi expressed his admiration for Muhammadiyah work.
“I have heard and read a lot about Muhammadiyah activities. Muhammadiyah has been doing a great job in providing education and healthcare services, which contribute to the well-being of Muslims. This will foster both intellectual and physical health, and hopefully, this good work will continue for generations to come,” said Sheikh Ahmed.
Sheikh Ahmad also praised the existence of Islamic organizations in Indonesia as a model for fostering compassion and moderation. He expressed hope for increased cooperation in education and da’wa based on the teachings of the Quran and Sunnah, which promote compassion and moderation in religious practice.
“This approach, Insha Allah, will bring great benefits to this nation,” he said.
Sheikh Ahmad also thanked King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud for their support of his visit.
The Imam’s visit to Indonesia, which took place from October 8-11, 2024, aimed to promote the values of Islamic tolerance and moderation. This visit aligns with the directives of the Saudi Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dawah, and Guidance, Sheikh Abdul Latif bin Abdul Aziz Al-Syaikh, to strengthen cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Islamic countries in spreading the message of moderation, balance, and tolerance.
