MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, YOGYAKARTA – Muhammadiyah officially sets the dates for key Islamic observances in 1446 Hijri. The first day of Ramadan falls on Saturday, March 1, 2025, while Eid al-Fitr is observed on Monday, March 31, 2025. The beginning of Dhu al-Hijjah is set for Wednesday, May 28, 2025, with the Day of Arafah on Thursday, June 5, and Eid al-Adha on Friday, June 6, 2025.
The announcement was made by the Secretary of Muhammadiyah Muhammad Sayuti in a press conference at the Muhammadiyah office, Yogyakarta, on February 12.
The dates were determined using the Hisab Wujudul Hilal method, a calculation-based approach to the Islamic lunar calendar. Sayuti emphasized that the official decree becomes a guideline for Muhammadiyah members to follow.
“This announcement is made as a reference for Muhammadiyah members and should be observed accordingly,” stated Sayuti.
The decree was officially signed by President of Muhammadiyah Haedar Nashir and Secretary Muhammad Sayuti.
