PCIM Tunisia Marks a Decade with New Leadership at Fifth Branch Assembly

EN.MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, TUNIS – The Muhammadiyah Special Branch Board in Tunisia (PCIM Tunisia) concluded its Fifth Special Branch Deliberation (Musyawarah Cabang Istimewa/Musycabis V) on Wednesday and Thursday (15–16/7), marking both a leadership transition and the organization’s 10th anniversary.

Held under the theme “Deliberation for Progress, Synergy for Sustainability,” the assembly served as a strategic forum to evaluate the branch’s achievements over the past decade and set its direction for the 2026–2028 leadership term.

The gathering brought together Muhammadiyah members in Tunisia to reaffirm their commitment to building an organization that remains responsive to contemporary challenges while upholding the values of Islam Berkemajuan (Progressive Islam).

The final day of the assembly featured the presentation of the outgoing executive board’s accountability report for the 2024–2026 term. The report highlighted several milestones, including membership growth, stronger organizational programs, and expanded collaboration with student groups and community organizations.

Naufal Sholahuddin, chairperson of PCIM Tunisia for the 2024–2026 term, said the branch had experienced significant progress in recent years.

“The achievements we have made are the result of collective effort, not individual success,” Naufal said. “At the same time, these accomplishments should not make us complacent. Instead, they should inspire us to pursue even greater innovation and contributions in the future.”

He also acknowledged the work of the organization’s founders and previous leaders, urging members to honor their legacy by continuing Muhammadiyah’s mission in Tunisia.

New Chairperson Elected for 2026–2028

The assembly then proceeded to elect a new chairperson through deliberation and consensus. The forum unanimously elected Liga Alhaqi Audi Putra Nusantara as chairman of PCIM Tunisia for the 2026–2028 term.

In his farewell remarks, Naufal described leadership as both a responsibility and a learning experience. He emphasized that the organization’s accomplishments over the past decade should motivate members to continue improving rather than become satisfied with past success.

“Perubahan merupakan ruh dari Islam itu sendiri. Oleh sebab itu, berbagai inovasi organisasi, termasuk penguatan gerakan perempuan melalui ‘Aisyiyah dan berbagai program kaderisasi lainnya, perlu terus dikembangkan. Pergantian kepemimpinan hanyalah bagian dari dinamika organisasi, sedangkan semangat berkhidmat kepada Muhammadiyah harus tetap hidup dalam diri setiap kader,” tegasnya.

In his inaugural address, Liga called on members to view Muhammadiyah as a lifelong path of service to the Muslim community. Drawing inspiration from Muhammadiyah founder K.H. Ahmad Dahlan, he urged members to respond to society’s challenges through practical action, sacrificing personal resources for the public good.

“Leadership is a great trust that must be upheld with full responsibility,” Liga said. “Caliph Umar once reminded us that leadership is not merely an honor but a responsibility for which we will ultimately be held accountable.”

He also encouraged members to remain committed to Muhammadiyah’s core values while developing new ideas and innovations capable of addressing contemporary challenges.

The Fifth Special Branch Assembly concluded on a note of gratitude and optimism. Beyond electing new leadership, the forum reaffirmed members’ shared commitment to advancing Muhammadiyah’s mission of Progressive Islam on the international stage.

As it enters its second decade, PCIM Tunisia aims to further strengthen its role in developing future Muslim leaders, expanding Muhammadiyah’s global network, and delivering programs that respond to the evolving needs of Muslim communities while contributing to humanity at large. (Bhisma)
