EN.MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, JAKARTA — The Central Board of Muhammadiyah received a delegation from the Muhammadiyah Special Branch Board in Tunisia (PCIM Tunisia) on Monday (28/9) at its office in Central Jakarta.
The meeting served as an opportunity to strengthen ties while discussing organizational development, cadre development, and access to higher education for Muhammadiyah cadres in Tunisia.
During the meeting, Muhammad Umar Azis Nur, Vice Chairperson of PCIM Tunisia, reported on the organization’s development, including the growth of its membership to around 30 people. PCIM Tunisia has also moved its secretariat to a larger location to accommodate the growing number of Muhammadiyah cadres in Tunisia.
Expanding Access to Higher Education
PCIM Tunisia also reported on follow-up efforts related to an educational partnership previously established by Muhammadiyah through the Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta (UMY) and the University of Manouba in Tunisia.
The branch expressed hope that communication and support from the Central Board of Muhammadiyah would continue. Such support, they said, is important to ensure that Muhammadiyah cadres in Tunisia continue to receive guidance and organizational support in carrying their work.
Meanwhile, Syafiq A. Mughni, Chairperson of the Central Board of Muhammadiyah, said PCIM Tunisia reported on activities it had carried out and discussed plans for further organizational development.
“We have just received PCIM Tunisia. They reported on the activities they have carried out and discussed steps for the future to ensure that more Muhammadiyah cadres can continue their studies at Tunisian universities,” Syafiq Said.
According to Syafiq, Tunisia has several higher education institutions that could provide opportunities for Muhammadiyah cadres to pursue further studies. Expanding access to education was therefore one of the key discussion at the meeting.
Strengthening the Organization
In addition to educational opportunities, the meeting discussed organizational consolidation, including management, program implementation, and ideas that could be conveyed to the Muhammadiyah Central Board in responding to the needs and development of Muhammadiyah Special Branch Boards overseas.
“We hope PCIM Tunisia will continue to advance and help provide or expand study opportunities for our cadres, whether for academic learning or other fields of knowledge. There are surely many good universities there,” Syafiq said. (taufik)
