MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, KEBUMEN – Muhammadiyah has consistently prioritized education as a fundamental pillar of its mission. The Chairperson of Muhammadiyah Busyro Muqoddas emphasized that Muhammadiyah views education as a transformative process which awakens individuals to their full potential.
This educational philosophy aims to cultivate individuals who possess a profound sense of self-awareness, fostering gratitude and responsibility. This self-awareness instills in individuals a sense of caution and appreciation for their health, knowledge, opportunities, positions, and wealth.
Understanding human existence in the world also enables individuals to be more likely to appreciate the environment and act as stewards of the planet.
“Education is thus of paramount importance. Upon its establishment by Ahmad Dahlan, Muhammadiyah’s first undertaking focused on education, followed by healthcare,” said Busyro Muqoddas at the Pengajian Ahad Pagi program conducted by the Muhammadiyah Regency Board (PDM) of Kebumen on Monday (July 21).
Muhammadiyah commitment to education extends beyond formal schooling. The organization recognizes the broader scope of learning, encompassing informal avenues such as preaching. This holistic approach ensures that education is accessible to a wide range of individuals.
Furthermore, Muhammadiyah educational institutions are renowned for their inclusivity. Open to people of all faiths and backgrounds, these institutions have made a significant impact, particularly in regions like Papua, where the majority of students are non-Muslim.
Since its establishment in 1912, Muhammadiyah has demonstrated remarkable resilience and growth. This success can be attributed to the organization’s systematic approach and commitment to meritocracy.
