MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, JAKARTA – Muhammadiyah has taken significant steps to bolster its support for the Palestinian people. At a national consolidation, the Muhammadiyah Council for Religious Preaching outlined plans to synergize efforts and strengthen its campaign for the independence of Palestine.
Adi Hidayat, Deputy Chairperson of the Muhammadiyah Council for Religious Preaching, emphasized the importance of this initiative. Speaking at the event, he highlighted the organization’s commitment to fostering dialogue and cooperation with the Palestinian people.
“We aim to create a more effective strategy to support Palestine through this interactive dialogue with the Palestinian Ambassador,” said Adi Hidayat.
The consolidation, attended by representatives from 34 Muhammadiyah Provincial Councils for Religious Preaching, featured a special address by the Palestinian Ambassador to Indonesia, Zuhair Al Shun.
Ambassador Zuhair Al Shun provided an overview of the humanitarian crisis in Palestine, emphasizing the significance of the region for Muslims worldwide. He highlighted the historical and religious importance of Palestine, including its role as the first qibla, the site of the Isra’ and Mi’raj, and the birthplace of several prophets.
“The situation in Palestine is a humanitarian tragedy. The Palestinian people are not only facing direct violence but also systematic efforts to undermine their way of life. They are suffering from acute hunger and a deep sense of despair,” said Ambassador Zuhair Al Shaun.
As a tangible demonstration of its commitment, Muhammadiyah presented a donation of Rp 2 billion to the Palestinian people, which was accepted by Ambassador Al Shun. The Muhammadiyah Council for Religious Preaching is now working to develop a more comprehensive and coordinated approach to supporting the Palestinian cause.
