Expanding Global Horizons: SMP Muhammadiyah PK Surakarta Builds Networks in Singapore and Malaysia

MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, SURAKARTA -– Hundred of ninth-grade students from Muhammadiyah Special Program Junior High School (SMP Muhammadiyah PK) of Kottabarat, Surakarta, embarked on an international edutrip to Singapore and Malaysia, held from Monday to Friday (6-10/10). The program was designed as a cross-cultural learning experience to strengthen students’ character and expand their global perspective.

During a visit to Brainy Bunch International Islamic School (BBIS), one of Malaysia’s well-known international Islamic schools, Principal Muhdiyatmoko explained that the trip was more than just a recreational tour. It served as a meaningful educational exchange that enriched students’ knowledge and exposure to international environments.

“We learned many things at Brainy Bunch, from school management to internationally standardized learning methods. I hope this experience will broaden our students’ perspectives and inspire them to continue achieving excellence,” said Muhdiyatmoko during the visit to Malaysia on Thursday (9/10).

The students received a warm welcome from Aden, CEO of BBIS, who expressed his admiration for the exceptional attitude and character shown by the SMP Muhammadiyah PK students.

“My first impression upon seeing students entering the Brainy Bunch International School in Cyberjaya was remarkable. They were orderly and well coordinated, leaving a beautiful impression of discipline, teamwork, and respect,” he remarked.

Aden also praised the students’ performance of Tari Saman and Tapak Suci martial arts, which were delivered flawlessly with great coordination and discipline.

“My first impression upon meeting the students was that they came with high enthusiasm and delivered an inspiring performance. I even saw Brainy Bunch students capturing this extraordinary moment,” Aden added.

Through this visit and the emerging collaboration between the two institutions, students are expected to gain valuable experiences, expand their global outlook, and build transnational friendships. The program also aims to instill a sense of pride in the students, motivating them to continue competing and contributing on the international stage. (Bintang Adrian)
