MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, YOGYAKARTA – Sapen Muhammadiyah Elementary School (SD Muhammadiyah Sapen) has earned a glorious achievement. In the sixth series of Sunan Kalijaga Math Olympiad (OMSU) held by Faculty of Science and Technology of Sunan Kalijaga State Islamic University Yogyakarta, SD Muhammadiyah Sapen managed to secure the first place in the national competition for the sixth time in a row. This year, the achievement was brought to Sapen by Arkatama Shifan Winatra who has successfully earned the first place in OMSU 2025.
This competition is aiming to raise a generation who thinks logically, critically, and creatively with mathematics as a vessel. Hundreds of participants from various regions in Indonesia took part in the prestigious competition. Thereby, the competition is seen as one of the indicators of elementary education quality specifically in numeric literacy.
Arkatama’s glorious victory this year also adds to the illustrious track record of SD Muhammadiyah Sapen in the same competition since OMSU was first held. This golden tradition began when Muhammad Ridho won first place in 2017, followed by Alifa Batrisiya Nareswari who also took the first place in 2017, Fiorenza who secured third place in 2019. After the pandemic, the champion spirit reignited with Nabila Putri Salsabila Fabeoki claiming first place in 2023, followed by Dzakwan Casey Aidan in 2024, and culminating this year with Arkatama Shifan Winatra’s outstanding achievement.
The headmaster of SD Muhammadiyah Sapen. Agung Rahmanto, expressed his gratitude and appreciation over this exquisite achievement. According to him, the achievement is not merely the result of the students’ hardwork, but also the result of the school’s commitment in nurturing academic excellence, Islamic character, and the culture of achievement within the school environment.
“We strive to cultivate a love for mathematics from an early age through engaging learning methods and talent development programs,” he said.
This achievement serves as concrete proof that SD Muhammadiyah Sapen remains consistent in nurturing outstanding young generations who excel academically and embody noble character. Their success at the national level is expected to inspire other students to keep striving, innovating, and embracing mathematics as a discipline that sharpens reasoning, logic, and intellectual integrity.
