MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, JAKARTA – Muhammadiyah received a donation of 2,000 copies of the Qur’an on Friday, May 9. They were handed over by Chairperson of Lajnah Khairiyah Musytarakah Achmad Zawawi bin Nawawi and accepted by Secretary of Muhammadiyah M. Izzul Muslimin.
This donation showed a growing partnership between an international Islamic charity and an Indonesian Islamic organization. Both sides shared a spirit of togetherness and a clear goal, to help strengthen Islamic education in Indonesia.
Zawawi expressed his trust in Muhammadiyah ability to manage and distribute the Qur’an manuscripts effectively.
“There is no other institution or organization in Indonesia more worthy of this trust than Muhammadiyah,” said Zawawi.
In response, Izzul Muslimin expressed deep appreciation for the support from the people of Kuwait and assured that the donated Qur’an manuscripts would be distributed properly to benefit Muslim communities throughout the country.
The Qur’an copies were donated by the people of Kuwait through the Southeast Asia Committee of Jam’iyah Ihtiyath Tasquroh Islami Kuwait. The Lajnah Khairiyah Musytarakah acted as the distributor, passing the waqf on to Muhammadiyah.
Muhammadiyah plans to distribute the Qur’an manuscripts across Indonesia, focusing on areas where access to the Qur’an copies are still limited. Izzul Muslimin hoped the Qur’an manuscripts could soon reach Muhammadiyah local and regional branches to help strengthen Islamic education and outreach.
He also emphasized the importance of sending the Qur’an manuscripts to Muhammadiyah universities in Papua, aiming to boost Islamic awareness and education in eastern Indonesia.
This donation is a meaningful example of cross-border cooperation among Muslims to support religious education. Muhammadiyah has committed to honoring this trust and ensuring the Qur’an copies are used to promote Islamic values across Indonesia.
