MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, YOGYAKARTA – The Muhammadiyah Department of Charity Management (Lazismu) launched a new program of “Kampung Berkemajuan” (Progressive Village) as part of its commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The initiative was officially unveiled during the 2025 Lazismu National Work Meeting on Saturday, November 29.
The Progressive Village is a community-based development program that aims to empower villages through various activities in education, health, social welfare, and humanitarian efforts,” said the Chairperson of Lazismu Imam Mujaddid Rais.
The program will be implemented using a participatory approach, encouraging community members to actively participate in identifying and addressing their own challenges. This bottom-up approach aligns with the SDGs’ focus on rural development and partnerships for the goals.
Meanwhile, the General Treasurer of Muhammadiyah Hilman Latief emphasized the government’s priority on rural development and encouraged Lazismu leaders to align their efforts with the government’s agenda.
“The Lazismu Prosperous Village program is in line with the government’s vision as outlined in the ‘Asta Cita’ document, which prioritizes rural development and poverty alleviation,” he said.
Hilman Latief further highlighted that the program has been carefully planned and is expected to have a significant impact on the target communities.
“This program is a realization of our long-standing dream since 2020. We have meticulously calculated its impact and believe that it will directly benefit the communities involved,” said Hilman.
The “Prosperous Village” initiative demonstrates the Lazismu contribution to sustainable development in Indonesia. Through empowering communities and fostering partnerships, Lazismu aims to create thriving villages that align with the global goals of eradicating poverty, improving health, and ensuring quality education.
