MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, TURKEY — The Lazismu (the Muhammadiyah zakat management body) of the Muhammadiyah Special Branch (PCIM) of Turkey initiated the Lazismu center on Sunday (19/2) after deploying the members of the PCIM of Turkey to be interpreters at the Indonesian emergency filed hospitals in Hassa, Hatay, Turkey.
Afterward, the Lazismu pitched tents near the emergency medical team (EMT) Muhammadiyah tents to ease logistics distribution to evacuees, both Indonesians and locals, around the hospitals.
The administrative staff of the Lazismu of the PCIM of Turkey Tri Wulandari mentioned that the Lazismu center provided groceries, and the team took 3-4-hour drive to distribute them. Thus, the team packaged the groceries one day and shared them the following day. Besides, the Lazismu center offered psychosocial services for children.
The Lazismu center opened from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. local time, and the volunteers worked in shifts that some of them stayed at the center while the others distributed aid to evacuation camps. Other barriers faced by the volunteers were a need for interpreters, transportation, and phone signal.
Local people thanked the Lazismu for providing the center and prayed for all volunteers that Allah might reward them.
The Lazismu remains to fundraise. Everyone may donate to help the earthquake-affected people in Turkey through the following bank account:
