MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, YOGYAKARTA – The momentum for Muhammadiyah’s cadre development transformation is set to unfold through the 2025 National Coordination Meeting (Rakornas) of the Council for Cadre and Human Resources (MPKSDI) of Muhammadiyah Central Board (PP Muhammadiyah).
The meeting will take place on 24-26 October 2025 at Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta (UMS), bring together 200 participants from across Indonesia, including regional MPKSDI Chairpersons, representatives of central autonomous organization (Ortom), and key figures in Muhammadiyah’s cadre development ecosystem.
Carrying the theme “Muhammadiyah 2050: The Profile of Progressive Muslim Cadres in the Society 5.0 Era,” the Rakornas serves as a strategic forum to reform Muhammadiyah’s cadre system, ensuring its adaptability to the digital age, artificial intelligence (AI), virtual society, and other global challenges.
The theme underscores that Muhammadiyah cadres must remain shalih fi Kulli zaman wa makan — pious and relevant in every time and place. In today’s world, the digital sphere is just as vibrant as the physical one, and cadre development is not a short term process but instead a long term investment toward 2050.
“Muhammadiyah of the past, present, and 2050 are clearly different. The challenges of Society 5.0 demand cadres who are more adaptive, innovative, and socially oriented,” said Bachtiar Dwi Kurniawan, Chairperson of MPKSDI PP Muhammadiyah, in a press release received on Monday (20/10).
Held midway through the 2022–2027 leadership period, this rakornas begins with a presentation of program achievements, followed by performance evaluations and participant feedback. Discussions will focus on reforming the Muhammadiyah Cadre System (Sistem Perkaderan Muhammadiyah/SPM), strengthening the digital cadre database, and developing community-based cadre schools.
“This is a key moment to accelerate our programs until 2027, as well as a national reunion and gathering of Muhammadiyah cadres,” Bachtiar added.
He emphasized that Muhammadiyah’s cadre system must evolve to meet the challenges of the digital era.
“The old system no longer fits the age of AI and social media, tools that didn’t exist when the system was designed. We need a new model to shape cadres for the next 10-30 years: on call, on fire, precise, and purposeful. Muhammadiyah cadres must be compatible with their time, because every era has its people, and every person has their era,” he explained.
Bachtiar outlined three main pillars of the system reform: Reforming the Muhammadiyah Cadre System (SPM) by designing a new cadre model aligned with the Muhammadiyah 2050 roadmap; Strengthening the Digital Cadre Database by building an integrated cadre data bank with unique identification numbers; Developing Community-Based Cadre Schools which focused on local needs, inclusivity, and humanism.
Through these steps, MPKSDI aims to strengthen the unity of Muhammadiyah’s diverse cadre base, create a blueprint for progressive cadre development, and promote the 2050 Muhammadiyah vision: human-centered, innovative, and responsive to the needs of both society and the movement itself.
“Rakornas MPKSDI sends a clear message: Muhammadiyah is ready to lead the digital civilization with the values of Progressive Islam. An integrated cadre database ensures that our human resources will never be lost and will always be ready to serve.
Bachtiar concluded that the event will also strengthen bonds of brotherhood among cadres throughout Indonesia, from Sabang to Merauke and reaffirm their collective commitment to serve the ummah and the nation.
