MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, ANTWERP—A graduate of the Muhammadiyah International Kauman Islamic Boarding School has brought pride once again to her alma mater. Puthi Andam Wulandari, an alumna of Madrasah Aliyah (MA) Kaupam Muhammadiyah, secured second place at the prestigious 25th Belgium Open International Pencak Silat Championship, held in Schoten, Antwerp, Belgium, from April 24 to 26, 2026.
During her time as a student, Puthi was an active member of the Tapak Suci material arts team at the Muhammadiyah International Kauman Boarding School. She had previously earned medals at the national level, demonstrating consistent dedication, discipline, and high-level skill. Her latest achievement reflects not only her personal commitment but also her development as both a Tapak Suci practitioner and a Muhammadiyah alumna.
A Reflection of Holistic Education
Derlina, Director of the Muhammadiyah International Kauman Boarding School in Padang Panjang, expressed pride and gratitude for the accomplishment. She emphasized that Puthi’s success aligns with the institution’s vision of cultivating well-rounded individuals grounded in the values of the Qur’an, as well as in science, technology, and sports.
“Alhamdulillah, Puthi’s achievement is truly something to be proud of. It proves that our students excel not only in religious and academic fields, but are also capable of competing on the international sports stage,” Derlina said in a statement received on Monday (4/5).
She added that the school remains committed to supporting its alumni through encouragement and prayers. “Achievements like this are the result of hard work, discipline, and the blessings of knowledge. We will continue to monitor and appreciate every positive accomplishment of our students, wherever they may be.”
Elevating Indonesia’s Presence Abroad
With this achievement, Puthi has not only brought recognition to Indonesia in Antwerp but also reaffirmed that Muhammadiyah cadres can compete and excel at the global level.
For context, the Muhammadiyah International Kauman Boarding School, based in Padang Panjang, West Sumatra, is known for its educational model branded as “The International School of Al-Qur’an, Science, & Technology.” The institution emphasizes a balance between religious knowledge, scientific inquiry, technological advancement, and athletic development—an approach that continues to shape its students even after graduation.
