MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, JAKARTA – Muhammadiyah is stepping up its global outreach efforts. The Muhammadiyah Council for Religious Preaching, in collaboration with Akhyar Institute, has sent five Muhammadiyah cadres to Libya to pursue their master’s degree.
To qualify for this program, the cadres must have memorized at least 15 or 17 juz of the Qur’an, possess strong Arabic language skills, and be proficient in writing.
“This is part of our global cooperation. Currently, we have 27 hafiz studying in Libya,” said Chairperson of the Muhammadiyah Council for Religious Preaching Fathurrahman Kamal in the opening of the Muhammadiyah Da’wa Strategy Consolidation on Tuesday (July 23).
Fathurrahman Kamal emphasized that this global da’wah effort is not merely academic. It is also a response to pressing global issues, such as the humanitarian crisis in Palestine.
“We do not need to be highly intelligent or hold a high position to understand the suffering of the Palestinian people. All we need is a normal human heart. Palestine is a significant part of our global da’wa,” said Fathurrahman.
Muhammadiyah commitment to the Palestinian cause is rooted in both faith and humanitarian principles. The organization has a long history of advocating for Palestinian rights. Fathurrahman Kamal cited K.H. Kahar Muzakir as an example of a Muhammadiyah figure who played a pivotal role in the struggle for Palestinian independence.
