MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, YORDANIA – The Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia for Jordan, Ade Padmo Sarwono, received the visit from the Muhammadiyah’s Delegation at the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Amman.
In the meeting, the Ambassador expressed appreciation and support for Muhammadiyah’s actions in humanitarian work, education, and peacebuilding for the Palestinian people.
The Ambassador stressed that the humanitarian programs in Palestine, particularly in the West Bank, face major challenges as they require approval from Israeli authorities.
“Traveling to Jerusalem is still possibly done, but going to other cities in the West Bank is very difficult. Even Palestinian officials themselves are frequently hindered by the many checkpoints,” he said on Thursday (September 11).
Ambassador Ade welcomed Muhammadiyah’s initiatives to choose Jordan as one of the bases for its humanitarian activities for Palestine.
He said the approach is more physically effective and can be supported by various partners, including the interfaith groups such as the Interfaith Society Organization which operates under Prince Hassan, the uncle of the King of Jordan.
In addition, regarding trauma healing, Ambassador Ade considered that this aspect is crucial, especially for children and women in Gaza as well as in the West Bank.
Ambassador Ade also highlighted the need of peacebuilding and reconciliation among Palestinian youth.
“Leadership must be gradually passed to the younger generation without negating the role of the older generation. Muhammadiyah’s efforts to promote reconciliation and social transformation are very much in line with this need,” he said.
Ambassador Ade reaffirmed the commitment of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Jordan to support and facilitate Muhammadiyah’s initiatives.
“We are ready to assist, both through diplomatic network and coordination with local partners in Jordan and Palestine. The presence of Muhammadiyah with partners in the West Bank is an important asset, and we hope that this cooperation will continue to expand for the sustainability of the humanitarian and peace missions,” he emphasised.
Attending the meeting were the representatives of Central Board of Muhammadiyah, i.e. Ahmad Imam Mujadid Rais, Muarawati Nur Malinda (Chairperson and Vice Chairperson of the Board of Department of Charity Management), and Yayah Khisbiyah (Secretary of Department of International Relations and Cooperation), and the representatives of the Board of Muhammadiyah Special Branch in Jordan.
