.MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, SRAGEN — Muhammadiyah has moved swiftly to support the recovery of MTs Muhammadiyah 4 Sambungmacan after part of the school building collapsed on Tuesday, (12/5). The incident, which occurred in Sragen, disrupted school facilities and interrupted learning activities for students. The collapse also sparked concern across Muhammadiyah’s educational network.
In response, Muhammadiyah’s Primary, Secondary, and Nonformal Education Council allocated Rp100 million, or roughly $6,000, to assist with reconstruction efforts and help the school resume normal operations as quickly as possible.
Didik Suhardi, Chairperson of the council, said the rapid response reflected Muhammadiyah’s long-standing commitment to protecting its educational institutions during times of crisis.
“This disaster is a shared sorrow for the Muhammadiyah family,” Didik said. “We are working quickly to rebuild the school so teaching and learning activities can continue properly.” He described the assistance as part of Muhammadiyah’s broader mission to support communities through practical action.
Focus on Educational Recovery
Didik said Muhammadiyah would continue assisting schools and madrasahs affected by disasters to ensure educational services remain stable and accessible.
He also expressed hope that students, teachers, and school staff would remain resilient throughout the recovery process.
“We pray that the students, teachers, and the entire school community are given strength, patience, and safety,” he said. “Muhammadiyah will continue to stand with them and provide support.”
The funding is expected to accelerate the restoration of damaged facilities. It will also be utilized to create a safer environment for students and educators once classes fully resume.
Solidarity Across Muhammadiyah’s Education Network
The response from the council also underscored the organization’s emphasis on solidarity and collective responsibility within its nationwide school network.
Leaders said the reconstruction effort reflects Muhammadiyah’s goal of building resilient educational institutions capable of responding quickly to unexpected challenges.
The organization hopes the recovery process at MTs Muhammadiyah 4 Sambungmacan will allow students to return to a stable and conducive learning environment in the near future.
