MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, YOGYAKARTA—Muhammadiyah Statue Article 4 mentions Muhammadiyah is an Islamic da’wa and tajdid movement which upholds amar ma’ruf nahi munkar (commanding the good, forbidding the evil) and is based on al-Qur’an and as-Sunnah.
Ahmad Dahlan contemplated the deterioration of Muslims in that era, and the circumstance necessitates an organization to make a change. It underlay the establishment of Muhammadiyah to foster Muslims through da’wa.
“Ahmad Dahlan perceived that the rapid change couldn’t be undertaken by himself, so that’s why he founded Muhammadiyah,” said the Chairman of Muhammadiyah Syamsul Anwar in Baitul Arqam (a program to enhance Islamic understanding) for students of Pendidikan Ulama Tarjih Muhammadiyah (PUTM) at the Muhammadiyah Development Center on Monday (July 31).
According to Syamsul Anwar, Muhammadiyah da’wa encompasses both preaching and activities in all life aspects to create progressive Muslims in line with the teachings of al-Qur’an and as-Sunnah.
Muhammadiyah da’wa promotes virtuous values and creates positive impacts on society. Muhammadiyah commits to contribute substantially to Muslims’ development.
