MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, YOGYAKARTA – The Muhammadiyah Council for Higher Education, Research, and Development is strengthening its efforts to enhance the quality of education at Muhammadiyah and ‘Aisyiyah universities.
This commitment was strengthened through a partnership with the International Education Foundation (IIEF) by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on February 13. The agreement was signed by Chairperson of the Council Bambang Setiaji and Director of IIEF Diana Kartika at the council’s office.
Bambang Setiaji highlighted that this collaboration aims to help Muhammadiyah students and cadres secure scholarships, especially for studying abroad.
“One of the main challenges is mastering English,” said Bambang. To address this, the partnership will introduce two key programs: scholarships for the TOEFL ITP test and training for TOEFL instructors.
The initiative will also be integrated into the Muhammadiyah Scholarship Preparation Program (MSPP). As part of this program, IIEF will assess the English proficiency of potential scholarship applicants within Muhammadiyah institutions. Additionally, IIEF will provide training for TOEFL instructors to improve language education quality.
The agreement focuses on three main areas: expanding scholarship access for outstanding and underprivileged students, developing academic and professional training programs, and fostering collaboration in academic activities and knowledge exchange at both national and international levels.
For information, IIEF is a foundation dedicated to education and serves as Indonesia’s official representative for the Educational Testing Service (ETS), overseeing the TOEFL® Institutional Testing Program (ITP) and TOEFL® Internet-Based Test (iBT).
“IIEF manages various scholarship programs funded by governments, private sectors, and international donors, as well as training and research initiatives,” explained Diana Kartika.
