MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, UZBEKISTAN – The Council for Higher Education. Research, and Development (Majelis Diktilitbang) of Muhammadiyah Central Board (PP Muhammadiyah) continues to advance the internationalization of its educational movement.
One of its latest efforts was participating in the 1st Annual Meeting on Global Academic Collaboration for Student Mobility held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, October 27-28, 2025.
Joining other leading global universities, Muhammadiyah delegation also brought representatives from seven Muhammadiyah-’Aisyiyah Universities (PTMA): Unisa Yogyakarta, UM Jakarta, UM Kalimantan TImur, Unismuh Makassar, UMSU Medan, UMS Surakarta, and BIM.
During the presentation session, Secretary of Majelis Diktilitbang PP Muhammadiyah Ahmad Muttaqin highlighed Muhammadiyah’s contribution to advancing Indonesia through its extensive higher education network.
Muhammadiyah currently operates 163 universities and colleges (PTMA) across the country, with a total over 670,000 students and 20,000 faculty members. Among them, 20 institutions have achieved “Excellent” accreditation status, and several are ranked globally by QS, THE, and UniRank.
“PTMAs are open to international collaboration across various areas, from student mobility, faculty exchange, and visiting lectures to joint research and publications,” Ahmad explained.
Meanwhile, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation, Sharipov Kongratbay Avezimbetovich, expressed his hopes that the event would strengthen academic relations between Uzbekistan and partners countries.
“We aim to build a future for higher education that is both high-quality and globally competitive,” he said.
On the second day, the Muhammadiyah Diktilitbang delegation and representatives from the seven PTMA had the opportunity to deliver short lectures to students of Tashkent State University of Economics (TSUE). During the session, delegates introduced their perspective universities and presented ongoing international collaboration programs designed to enhance academic exchange and global partnership.
