Muhammadiyah Universities Expand International Collaboration with Universiti Malaysia Kelantan

MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, MALAYSIA — President of Muhammadiyah Haedar Nashir representatives of five Muhammadiyah-’Aisyiyah universities visited Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) to build academic partnerships.

These institutions signing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) included Universitas ‘Aisyiyah Yogyakarta, Universitas Muhammadiyah Surabaya, Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto, Universitas Muhammadiyah Cirebon, and Universitas Muhammadiyah Riau.

The signing ceremony took place on Monday, May 5, at the UMK. Speaking before the event, Haedar Nashir said the agreements marked the beginning of more focused and meaningful cooperation between the universities.

“In the future, we hope to make this collaboration more specific and stronger with other Muhammadiyah-’Aisyiyah universities,” said Haedar.

Meanwhile, UMK Vice Chancellor Professor Ts. Dr. Arham bin Abdullah welcomed the partnership and described it as an important step toward strengthening academic ties with Muhammadiyah.

“We want to deepen and solidify our collaboration with Muhammadiyah, which is such an influential organization,” he said.

He also expressed interest in expanding UMK’s cooperation with more Muhammadiyah universities in the future, beyond the five that signed the current agreements. Additionally, he hoped to explore partnerships with the Muhammadiyah Council for Higher Education, Research, and Development.
