MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, JAKARTA – The Muhammadiyah Council for Social Welfare (MPKS) is offering a beacon of hope for those vulnerable to domestic violence and other social issues through its “Rumah Sakinah” initiative.
The Rumah Sakinah program focuses on a number of issues, such as reducing the number of cases of domestic violence and victims of human trafficking, resolving violence against children, and ensuring fifteen child protection aspects.
Chairperson of the MPKS Mariman Darto expressed his enthusiasm for the potential impact of Rumah Sakinah. He highlighted that Secretary General of Muhammadiyah Abdul Mu’ti aspires to initiate the program in other areas.
Mariman Darto called for community support. He emphasized that Rumah Sakinah aims to offer new hope and break the cycle of violence and hardship.
“The spirit of giving is essential. One day, Allah may turn things around, and those who receive assistance today can become future helpers themselves,” said Mariman Darto in a preaching conducted at the Rumah Sakinah on Monday (July 15).
Besides, in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Affairs, the initiative also distributed business capital assistance to 12 individuals. These grants aim to empower community members, particularly residents of Gang Laler, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, by supporting the establishment of small businesses like coffee stalls, beverage shops, and mobile cake sellers.
Chairperson of the ‘Aisyiyah Regency Board (PDA) of Central Jakarta Syamsidar Siregar also encouraged the preaching participants to cultivate an active form of gratitude, one that compels individuals to seek solutions and create opportunities for a better life.
Meanwhile, Dedi Warman, Deputy Chairperson of Rumah Sakinah wished the Rumah Sakinah to be a pilot project, a model that can be implemented in other areas.
“The pilot project in Kemayoran and Tamansari serves a large population in need. We hope to foster a sense of commitment and a shared vision for a better life, particularly in terms of religious practice. This includes holding regular preaching sessions at the Rumah Sakinah,” said Dedi Warman.
