President of Muhammadiyah Honored with Lifetime Achievement Award at HMA 2024

MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, BALI – President of Muhammadiyah Haedar Nashir was honored with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award at the 23rd Hospital Management Asia Awards (HMA) held on Thursday, August 29, at the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center.

Chairperson of the Muhammadiyah Council for Public Health Agus Samsudin received the award on behalf of Haedar Nashir.

Haedar is globally recognized for his effective leadership in mitigating health and disaster crises. As the COVID-19 spread across Indonesia, Haedar announced on March 2, 2020, that he had instructed all Muhammadiyah and ‘Aisyiyah hospitals to admit patients with the virus. This was the quickest and most decisive response to the COVID-19 pandemic at the time.

Haedar also established the Muhammadiyah COVID-19 Command Center (MCCC) to coordinate emergency health services during the pandemic. Muhammadiyah provided over one trillion rupiah in aid during the pandemic, including disaster relief, funeral services for COVID-19 victims, assistance to infected patients, free food distribution, ambulance services, volunteer support, medical supplies, and other social and health services.

In addition to the pandemic response, Muhammadiyah, under Haedar’s leadership, has become increasingly involved in disaster response and mitigation efforts at the local, national, and global levels. Haedar believes that disasters pose a significant threat to infants, children, women, the elderly, and vulnerable groups. Haedar emphasizes the need for organized and sustained actions to reduce fatalities caused by disasters, pandemics, and conflicts.

Meanwhile, the Event Director of Clarion Events Asia Pinky Fadullon explained that HMA offered the healthcare leaders an opportunity to become smarter and more connected, with sharing hospital challenges and best practices with the other healthcare leaders in the region. A

HMA started in 2002 and is now in its 23rd year. The conference has established itself as the region’s event for hospital owners, C-level executives, directors, clinicians and healthcare leaders to get inspired from presentations, conversations and knowledge sharing about hospital management thinking and evolving & innovative business models.

HMA 2024 was organized by Clarion Events Asia and co-hosted with the Asosiasi Rumah Sakit Swasta Indonesia/ARSSI (Indonesian Private Hospitals Association). ARSSI is also the biggest supporter in encouraging Indonesian hospital owners, c-level executives and doctors to join the conference. They also partnered with national hospital associations and organizations in Cambodia, Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, South Korea, Thailand, and Vietnam.
