EN.MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, SIDOARJO – Muhammadiyah-’Aisyiyah Universities (PTMA) carry a sacred mission as centers for educating society. Therefore, PTMA must never regress. They must continue advancing and innovating.
This message was emphasized by Syafiq A. Mughni, Chairperson of the Central Board of Muhammadiyah. He delivered the message during the 47th Graduation Ceremony of the Muhammadiyah University of Sidoarjo (UMSIDA) on Saturday (27/6). The ceremony took place at UMSIDA Campus I, Mojopahit Street, Sidoarjo.
According to Syafiq, since its establishment, UMSIDA has never regarded students merely as academic subjects. Rather, they are viewed as a trust entrusted by their families to be educated and nurtured. Upholding this trust, he said, remains one of the university’s enduring sacred responsibilities.
“That is why we must safeguard the public’s trust together. Once an institution loses that trust, it is a clear sign of decline,” he stated.
Public Trust as the Foundation of Progress
At the same time, he encouraged all stakeholders to strengthen UMSIDA and other PTMA through a spirit of harmony, mutual cooperation, and deliberation.
He explained that another key to advancing PTMA is the availability of high-quality human resources. Building public trust alone is not enough. It must be matched by excellent educational services and professional competence.
Addressing institutional governance, Syafiq expressed confidence that Muhammadiyah has, from its very beginning, instilled the principles of good governance, values that remain highly relevant and should continue to guide university management today.
He believes that a strong combination of public trust, capable human resources, and professional governance will enable higher education institutions to achieve sustainable and effective progress.
“Everything that Muhammadiyah possesses is dedicated to our nation. We want Indonesia to move forward and we recognize the many challenges our country is currently facing,” he remarked.
Through its educational institutions and broader social initiatives, Muhammadiyah seeks to play a meaningful role in advancing the nation and improving the welfare of its people.
