MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, JAKARTA – Following coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, a group of Islamic community-based zakat management organizations, associated in POROZ, deployed a humanitarian team for Palestine. The team departed from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport to Amman, Jordan on Wednesday, September 18.
This humanitarian mission was meticulously planned and involved several key organizations, including LAZISMU, LAZISNU, LAZ PERSIS, LAZNAS Dewan Da’wah, Baitul Maal Hidayatullah, Wahdah Inspirasi Zakat, and LAZNAS Al-Irsyad Al-Islamiyyah.
The collaborative discussions with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs focused on logistics, fund allocation, and implementation strategies to ensure the aid reaches those in need efficiently and effectively.
Lazismu, the Muhammadiyah Department of Charity Management, has been actively involved in previous relief efforts for Palestine, partnering with groups such as MuhammadiyahAid, the Muhammadiyah Disaster Management Center (MDMC), FOZ, and other international humanitarian organizations. This latest mission underscores their ongoing commitment to providing relief in response to the ongoing crisis in Palestine.
Chairperson of Lazismu Ahmad Imam Mujadid Rais explained that Lazismu team for this mission consists of representative of the Central Lazimu, Ahmad Imam Hambali and Agus Edi Sumanto from Lazismu of East Java, and Muhammad Amir Anshori from Lazismu of Central Java.
The representatives have played a crucial role in gathering humanitarian funds for Palestine from Indonesian people.
According to Ahmad Mujadid Rais, this joint mission with POROZ provides an opportunity for Islamic zakat organizations to work together and deliver the much-needed aid to Palestine on behalf of Indonesian donors.
“We will be in Amman for three days, coordinating with the Indonesian Embassy and working alongside the Indonesian Student Association (PPI) and the Muhammadiyah Special Branch (PCIM) in Jordan to ensure the smooth delivery of aid to the Palestinian people,” said Ahmad Mujadid Rais.
“The aid, which includes 12 containers of wheat and hygiene kits, will be delivered to Palestinian people via Amman, Jordan” he said.
Mujadid Rais expressed gratitude for the collaboration, emphasizing that this partnership would facilitate the distribution of the donations entrusted to them by generous donors across Indonesia.
“This aid becomes a foundation for Lazismu and POROZ to continue distributing humanitarian assistance to Palestine, especially during the ongoing emergency,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Chairperson of Lazismu of East Java Imam Hambali emphasized the importance of the mission as a fulfillment of the trust given by donors in East Java. He also highlighted Jatinom Indah, a company that has specifically entrusted its contributions for Palestine to Lazismu.
“On behalf of Lazismu of East Java, we ask for your support and prayers so that we can successfully carry out this mission,” said Imam Hambali.
Muhammad Amir Ansori from Lazismu of Central Java also expressed his commitment to the mission, emphasizing the importance of delivering humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people.
