MDMC Distributes Singapore Aid to 1000 Households on the Slopes of Mount Merapi, Magelang
MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, MAGELANG — The Muhammadiyah Disaster Management Center (MDMC), in collaboration with Humanity Matters and the Temasek Foundation of Singapore, delivered aid to 1,000 families in 17 villages on the slopes of Mount Merapi in Magelang on 28 March.
The distribution took place at two locations: the Kradenan Village Hall in Srumbung District, and the Clinic of Pratama ‘Aisyiyah Siti Khadijah Salam in Krakitan, Kidul, Sucen, Salam Sub-district, Magelang Regency, Central Java.
The aid was handed over by the representative of Humanity Matters Hassan Ahmad, the Public Works and Public Housing Office, the Health Office, the Regional Disaster Management Agency of Magelang Regency, and the Regional Board of Muhammadiyah of Central Java and Magelang Regency.
The aid provided included a water treatment device installed at the Kradenan Village Hall for 1,000 households, an oxygen concentrator as a central oxygenation service for the community during a Merapi eruption, which was handed over to the BKIA Aisyiyah Siti Khadijah Salam, Magelang, and the Kradenan Village Polyclinic in Magelang Regency.
The aid provided included water purification equipment installed in the Kradenan Village Hall for 1,000 families, an oxygen concentrator as central oxygenation services for the community during a Merapi eruption, which was handed over to the BKIA Aisyiyah Siti Khadijah Salam, Magelang, and a polyclinic of Kradenan in the Magelang regency.
The MDMC Advisory Board member Rahmawati Husein said the collaboration between MDMC and Humanity Matters was for Merapi volcano readiness.
“The form of preparation for the Merapi eruption is by providing assistance in the form of water treatment equipment, two oxygen concentrators for the Health Agency, and four were handed over to Muhammadiyah at the BKIA. I hope that this cooperation with Humanity Matters can continue,” said Rahmawati.
“The form of readiness for the Merapi eruption is by providing water distillation equipment and two oxygenators for the Health Office, and four oxygenators for the BKIA. I hope that Humanity Matters and Muhammadiyah can sustain this cooperation,” said Rahmawati.
For information, the Temasek Foundation has been collaborating with Muhammadiyah for a long time. Temasek also assisted Indonesia through Muhammadiyah and the Muhammadiyah COVID-19 Command Center (MCCC) by donating SGD 2,000,000, for health facilities.
The process of delivering aid from Humanity Matters and the Temasek Foundation was also facilitated by the Vooruitslag Hibah aid from the Yogyakarta Customs Office. Vooruitslag is the release of imported goods to be used by using collateral. This customs facility is provided in accordance with the Minister of Finance Regulation number PMK: 69/PMK.04/2012 dated May 7, 2012, concerning the Exemption of Import Duties and/or Taxes on Imported Goods for Gifts/Donations for the Purpose of Natural Disaster Mitigation.
The aid from Humanity Matters and the Temasek Foundation was also facilitated by a Vooruitslag grant from the Yogyakarta Customs Office. Vooruitslag is the release of imported goods to be used with guarantees. This customs were provided in accordance with the Minister of Finance Regulation number PMK: 69/PMK.04/2012 issued 7 May 2012 on the Exemption from Import Duty and/or Excise Duty on Imported Gifts/Grants for Natural Disaster Management Purposes.
