MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, PURWOREJO – Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR) has demonstrated its commitment to inclusivity by developing a solar-powered tricycle for students with disabilities. The innovative vehicle was promoted on Tuesday, August 20, and is designed to enhance mobility for students with special needs.
The Rector of UMPWR Teguh Wibowo expressed his enthusiasm for the project, highlighting its potential to improve the quality of life for students with disabilities. He appreciated the Automotive Engineering Department students for their innovative work in developing the solar-powered tricycle. The project was funded by a grant from the Directorate General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology.
“We would like to thank the team for their environmentally-friendly innovation which will help students with disabilities,” expressed Teguh.
He further hoped that this innovation would inspire further development of assistive technologies for people with disabilities and the wider community.
Besides, the Chair of the Association of Students with Disabilities (KAMADIFA) of UMPWR Ari Kistanto and the Advisor of KAMADIFA of UMPWR Didik Widiyantono expressed their gratitude for the university’s efforts to support students with disabilities.
