MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, YOGYAKARTA – Chairperson of Muhammadiyah Agus Taufiqurrahman emphasized the message of Surah Al-Qasas verse 77, which teaches the importance of preparing for the afterlife while still living responsibly in this world.
Agus explained that the verse prioritizes the afterlife because it is eternal, while life on earth is temporary. He urged Muslims to use their time wisely by focusing on both spiritual and worldly matters.
“No matter how well we plan our lives, when Allah calls us, everything ends. If we fail to prepare for the afterlife, that will be the greatest loss,” said Agus at Masjid Syuhada Yogyakarta on Saturday, March 22.
While the afterlife is the ultimate goal, Agus stressed that Islam does not disregard worldly life. He explained that when daily activities are carried out with faith and sincerity, they become a form of worship that benefits both this life and the next.
Agus also highlighted that the verse commands believers to do good, just as Allah has bestowed goodness upon them. Blessings like health, wealth, and strong relationships should be used as opportunities to give back and help others.
“If someone receives blessings but doesn’t use them to grow closer to Allah, those blessings can turn into a test,” said Agus.
Agus further reminded the audience that Islam strictly forbids causing harm or destruction. He stressed that Allah dislikes corruption and injustice, making it the duty of every Muslim to uphold peace and contribute to a better society.
Agus also encouraged Muslims to practice their faith through kindness, integrity, and meaningful actions. He urged them to turn their efforts into acts of worship, ensuring that they achieve both success in this world and eternal happiness in the hereafter.
