MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, JAKARTA — Muhammadiyah strengthened its collaboration with the National Zakat Agency (BAZNAS) through a strategic meeting at Attanwir Tower, the Muhammadiyah headquarters, Jakarta on Saturday, July 26.
Treasurer of Muhammadiyah Hilman Latief expressed his appreciation for the ongoing partnership.
“Thank you to BAZNAS for being a strategic partner in distributing zakat funds,” said Hilman.
Hilman explained that the collaboration has already been realized through various programs targeting underprivileged communities, especially in Eastern Indonesia. The programs focus on key areas such as education, economic empowerment, and the development of Islamic educational institutions.
“We have worked together to strengthen human resources, provide scholarships, support economic initiatives, and most recently, to improve Islamic educational institutions,” added Hilman.
Hilman hoped that the programs could help elevate the status of zakat recipients (mustahik) into zakat givers (muzakki), expanding the impact and creating a stronger, more self-sufficient community.
“The goal is to move people from being beneficiaries to becoming givers, so that the wider community can grow and share in that prosperity,” said Hilman.
