Ahead of Its Tanwir and 114th Anniversary, Muhammadiyah Holds Free Health Checkups for Palu Residents

EN.MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, PALU – Excitement is building in Palu, Central Sulawesi, as Muhammadiyah prepares to hold its Tanwir National meeting and celebrate its 114th Anniversary. One of the activities marking the occasion was a free health checkup service at Vatulemo Park’s Car Free Day (CFD) area on Sunday (1/11). 

The initiative reflects Muhammadiyah’s concern for public health and forms part of the series of events leading up to the Tanwir and the organization’s anniversary, which will take place in Palu. 

Since early morning, the activity has drawn enthusiastic participation from residents who came to the CFD to exercise, socialize, and check their health.

The service provided blood pressure checks and health information. Beyond direct medical services, it also offered an opportunity to educate the public on the importance of maintaining good health and undergoing regular checkups to help prevent disease. 

The free health service involved Muhammadiyah University of Palu, Muhammadiyah University of Luwuk, and the National Zakat Agency (BAZNAS) of Central Sulawesi. Muhammadiyah members, the Tanwir Reception Committee, and academic communities from Muhammadiyah universities also attended the event. 

Rajinda, Chairperson of the Reception Committee for Muhammadiyah’s Tanwir and 114th Anniversary and Rector of Muhammadiyah University of Palu, said the collaboration among various parties reflected a shared commitment to making the event a success. 

“More than that, this activity provides a space for Muhammadiyah and the community to come together, strengthening mutual care and social service,” he said. 

Through this initiative, the spirit of welcoming Muhammadiyah’s Tanwir and 114th Anniversary is visible not only through ceremonial events but also through concrete actions that directly benefit the community.

Advancing One of Muhammadiyah’s Pillars of Dakwah: Health Service

Rajindra added that choosing the CFD area as the venue was a strategic step to bring health services closer to residents during their weekend activities.

“This activity aligns with Muhammadiyah’s commitment to advancing its mission through education, health, and social services, all oriented toward the public good,” he said.

Through various social and community initiatives, the celebrations surrounding Muhammadiyah’s Tanwir and 114th anniversary are expected to strengthen collaboration among the organization, universities, social institutions, and the wider community.
