Indonesian Embassy Praises Muhammadiyah Humanitarian Mission in Myanmar

MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, MYANMAR – The Indonesian Embassy in Myanmar, represented by Minister Counsellor Harlianto Tarmizi, welcomed the Muhammadiyah Aid team as they arrived for their humanitarian mission. The team came to provide emergency support to those affected by the earthquake that hit northern Myanmar on March 28, 2025.

Harlianto expressed his appreciation for Muhammadiyah Aid’s efforts, emphasizing that their work showed Indonesia’s strong humanitarian support for Myanmar, particularly in the aftermath of the disaster.

“On behalf of the Indonesian Embassy, we thank Muhammadiyah Aid for its active role in helping ease the suffering of the survivors. This is a true reflection of the friendship between countries, strengthened through humanitarian cooperation,” said Harlianto on Saturday, April 26.

Meanwhile, the coordinator of the mission Syahri Ramadhan explained the team’s objectives. The primary goal was to distribute aid to help survivors living in emergency shelters.

The team also plans to assess the needs of the affected communities and identify local partners for future rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts. The target areas for this mission are Nay Pyi Taw, Sagaing, and Mandalay.

“This aid includes essential items for survival in emergency shelters, such as household goods, tents, hygiene kits, clean water and sanitation supplies, tools for clearing debris, and financial assistance,” said Syahri.

This support was especially important for vulnerable groups living in tents and temporary shelters. With the help of local partner Phoenix, Muhammadiyah distributed the aid directly to 1,000 families and 400 individuals.
