MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, EGYPT– Muhammadiyah has renewed its humanitarian commitment to Palestine by delivering educational assistance to Palestinian students studying in Egypt.
The aid was distributed through the Muhammadiyah Special Branch Board in Egypt (PCIM Egypt) and targeted Palestinian students enrolled at Al-Azhar institutions. The assistance originated from the Quantum Akhyar Institute, led by the Indonesian Islamic scholar Ustadz Adi Hidayat, which entrusted PCIM Egypt with its distribution.
According to a statement released on Saturday (27/12), the support took from the educational stipend for Palestinian students ranging from elementary to senior high school levels.
PCIM Egypt coordinated directly with the director of Al-Azhar’s school system, Sheikh Dr. Aiman Abdul Ghani, to ensure accurate and equitable distribution. Through the partnership, the aid will reach 1,000 Palestinian students across 28 provinces in Egypt.
Fathi, the Chairperson of PCIM Egypt, expressed gratitude for the trust placed in his organization. He said the initiative reflected Muhammaidyah’s consistent stance in prioritizing the Palestinian cause within its broader humanitarian mission.
“It is an honor for PCIM Egypt to represent both the Indonesian people and Muhammadiyah in delivering this mandate to our Palestinian brothers and sisters,” he said.
Moreover, Fathi welcomed the collaboration with Al-Azhar, which he described as the world’s largest Islamic educational institution. He noted that Muhammadiyah and Al-Azhar share common values, particularly in advancing education and supporting humanitarian struggles in Palestine.
He expressed hope that the aid distribution would not remain a one-time gesture. Instead, he said, it should serve as a foundation for stronger cooperation between Muhammadiyah and Al-Azhar in the future, especially in the fields of education and humanitarian work.
The initiative underscores Muhammadiyah’s ongoing efforts to support Palestinian communities through practical assistance, with education positioned as a key pathway to long-term resilience. (Bintang Adrian)
