EN.MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, JAKARTA – Lazismu and the Zakat and Social Fund Management Unit (UPZ DK) of Permata Bank Syariah continue to strengthen their partnership in community empowerment. The commitment was marked by a symbolic handover ceremony at Permata Bank Syariah’s headquarters in Jakarta on Monday (8/6).
Between 2023 and 2025, UPZ DK Permata Bank Syariah channeled Rp3.37 billion in social funds through Lazismu. The funds supported various public welfare programs, including qurban distribution in Sumatra, Kalimantan, and Java, as well as economic empowerment initiatives.
Awaludin Gumbira, Deputy Head of UPZ Permata Bank Syariah, expressed appreciation for Lazismu as a strategic partner.
“Lazismu is one of our key partners. It helps us fulfill our responsibility to manage and distribute community funds effectively and responsibly,” he said.
An Effort to Strengthen Islamic Financial Inclusion
Rudy Basyir Ahmad, Finance Director of Permata Bank’s Sharia Business Unit, said growing fundraising capacity requires stronger collaboration with professional and trusted institutions.
“This partnership is more than an administrative process. It is part of our effort to strengthen Islamic financial inclusion. We hope zakat, infaq, and sadaqah funds can reach more beneficiaries, create sustainable economic impact, and be more transparent and accountable,” he explained.
Moreover, the partnership covers all six of Lazismu’s program pillars: economic empowerment, education, health, social and da’wah services, humanitarian assistance, and environmental programs.
M. Sholeh Farabi, Director of Fundraising at Lazismu Central Board, highlighted one of the collaboration’s flagship projects: the “TelurMoe” egg farming program in Sleman, Yogyakarta.
The project is managed by a community of people with disabilities. It uses free-range chickens and organic feed. With additional working capital of around Rp1.2 billion from UPZ DK Permata Bank Syariah, the program has continued to expand. This includes the procurement of three-wheeled motorcycles to improve product distribution.
“Most of the farmers previously had no stable income. Now they are financially independent and even share their experience with other groups. Market demand for their eggs continues to grow because of their quality,” Farabi said.
The program will then be expanded on land owned by ‘Aisyiyah University of Yogyakarta (UNISA). The goal is to increase capacity to 1,000 chickens.
This empowerment model is expected to be replicated in other regions to strengthen the economic independence of vulnerable communities.
Through this ongoing partnership, Lazismu and UPZ DK Permata Bank Syariah remain committed to developing innovative programs. They hope that the innovation would improve welfare and promote economic self-reliance across Indonesia.
