EN.MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, JAKARTA — Muhammadiyah has continued its humanitarian response for survivors of NTT earthquake that struck East Nusa Tenggara on August 15, 2026. The response brings together the Muhammadiyah Disaster Management Center (MDMC) and Lazismu.
Since the disaster began, Muhammadiyah has mobilized resources from across Indonesia to assist affected communities. Its initial response centered on a Provincial Coordination Post at Muhammadiyah Clinic Ende on Jalan Mahoni in Kota Ratu Village, North Ende District.
The post serves as a hub for planning, coordinating, and evaluating humanitarian operations. So far, Muhammadiyah has established seven district coordination posts across affected areas, along with 10 service posts.
The organization has focused its response on three priority areas: health care, nonmedical assistance, and logistics.
In the health sector, Muhammadiyah deployed both a Type-1 Fixed Emergency Medical Team (EMT) and a mobile EMT. The Type-1 Fixed EMT consists of 50 personnel. It has also established a field hospital at Dampek Community Health Center in East Manggarai, where the earthquake damaged local facilities.
The team works with Indonesia’s Ministry of Health and is scheduled to serve for 30 days, starting on August 17, 2026. Meanwhile, the mobile EMT reaches displacement sites beyond the range of permanent health services. Medical personnel from Muhammadiyah and ‘Aisyiyah hospitals across Indonesia to support the team.
Health and Humanitarian Services Reach Thousands
As of September 3, Muhammadiyah health services had treated 7,255 survivors. The patients included 85 infants, 2,173 adults, 22 pregnant women, and 799 older adults recorded through EMT services.
At the field hospitals, respiratory infections accounted for 437 cases. Medical teams also treated 372 cases of muscle pain and fatigue. In addition, they recorded 233 cases of hypertension. Another 186 patients reported abdominal discomfort or pain, while 153 experienced headaches and pain in the neck and upper back.
Muhammadiyah has also expanded assistance beyond health care. Its public kitchens have served 1,750 people. Meanwhile, the organization has built sanitation and clean water facilities at two locations. Psychosocial services have reached another 1.773 people.
Selain layanan kesehatan, Muhammadiyah memberikan layanan nonkesehatan berupa dapur umum yang telah melayani 1.750 jiwa. Muhammadiyah juga membangun fasilitas sanitasi dan air bersih di dua titik serta memberikan layanan psikososial kepada 1.773 jiwa.
Furthermore, Muhammadiyah has distributed a range of logistical supplies. These include a mobile kitchen vehicle, a tactical vehicle, 500 family kits, and 600 school kits.
The response has als included 1,440 cans of RendangMu and 500 meters of tarpaulin. Mobile EMT teams from Muhammadiyah and ‘Aisyiyah hospitals have supplied additional logistics and medicines.
Lazismu Raises Rp6.09 Billion
Lazismu has raised funds for the earthquake response through its Indonesia Siaga program.
Earlier, the Muhammadiyah Central Board issued Circular Letter No. 18/EDR/I.0/H/2026, dated August 20, 2026. The letter called on Muhammdiyah mosques to collect Friday prayer donations for NTT earthquake survivors. Mosques conducted the fundraising effort on August 21.
As of Sept. 3, Lazismu had raised Rp6,099,163,820. Of that amount, Rp3,455,958,814 had already supported Muhammadiyah’s humanitarian operations in NTT.
Barry Adhitya, Lazismu’s President Director, thanked Muhammadiyah volunteers working in affected areas. He also expressed appreciation to donors and Friday prayer congregants for their support.
“We extend our highest appreciation to all Muhammadiyah volunteers working on the ground,” Barry said on Friday, Sept. 4.
“We also thank donors and Friday prayer congregants for their trust. Their contributions allow Muhammadiyah to continue providing humanitarian services to disaster survivors in NTT.”
Barry said Lazismu would continue monitoring and evaluating the Indonesia Siaga program in NTT.
The organization plans to maximize public donations for the recovery of affected communities. That support will extend to rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts.
“God willing, this support will continue to strengthen community resilience and help survivors recover from the disaster,” he said.
