Prof. Dr. H. Irwan Akib was born in Parepare on August 2, 1963. He is a Professor of Muhammadiyah Education and served as Rector of Muhammadiyah University of Makassar for two terms (2005–2008; 2008–2012). He currently serves as a Chairperson of the Central Board of Muhammadiyah overseeing Education, Culture, and Sports.
