MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, BEKASI – Central Board (PP) of Muhammadiyah has officially taken over the management of Universitas Islam 45 (UNISMA) Bekasi and it will be transformed into Universitas Muhammadiyah Indonesia. The management transfer ceremony was attended by the President of PP Muhammadiyah, Haedar Nashir, and the Chairperson, Muhadjir Effendy.
Haedar emphasized that UNISMA is now officially transformed into Universitas Muhammadiyah Indonesia. He believes that with this transformation, UNISMA’s benefits will spread throughout the world.
“From Bekasi to Indonesia, and then global. Behind the name lies the spirit of transformative progress, and certainly, this will become a pillar of strength for the nation in the state life. From Indonesia, we will reach out globally to contribute to spreading Islam as rahmatan lil alamin,” Haedar explained on Tuesday (16/9) at the UNISMA Bekasi Campus Hall.
Haedar also emphasized that, in the future, this transformation must evolve into a center for educating and nurturing character-driven human resources and technology mastery.
“UNISMA is a major university; it must serve as a center for developing Indonesian human resources with good character and strong mastery in science and technology. Indonesia greatly needs this, with the combination of character, knowledge, and technology, I believe it will be Indonesia’s strength moving forward,” Haedar said.
Finally, Haedar hopes that the lecturers and educational staff of UNISMA Bekasi will cooperate to educate the nation. Knowledge must be pursued and developed, with moral values serving as the foundation for building civilization.
“Hopefully, with knowledge, productivity, perseverance, and spirit in building civilization, UNISMA can transform into Universitas Muhammadiyah Indonesia and become a bright and enlightening center of global civilization,” he said.
The same hope was expressed by Chairperson of PP Muhammadiyah, Muhadjir Effendy, who said that UNISMA Bekasi is familiar to him, as it was once a foster campus of UMM.
“UNISMA Bekasi, which is the oldest university in Bekasi, marks a new historical milestone for Muhammadiyah’s da’wah because soon, a Muhammadiyah Hospital will be built in Bekasi,” Muhadjir explained.
Lastly, support was also given by the Mayor of Bekasi, Tri Adhianto Tjahyono. He also hopes that Muhammadiyah’s support can improve the Human Development Index (HDI) of Bekasi. In his view, Muhammadiyah is an international organization whose presence consistently makes an impact and brings benefits for the nation.
