MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, GOMBONG – The 1st National Jamboree of Jamaah Tani Muhammadiyah (JATAM) was officially opened, carrying the theme “Food Sovereignty for a Prosperous Indonesia.”
The three-day agenda (September 19–21, 2025) was attended by thousands of participants representing JATAM of Council for Community Empowerment (MPM) across Indonesia.
Chairperson of Central Board (PP) of Muhammadiyah, Haedar Nashir, reaffirmed Muhammadiyah’s commitment to the agricultural sector, noting that Muhammadiyah has long been engaged in advancing agriculture.
“Agriculture is not new to Muhammadiyah. Since 2010, PP Muhammadiyah together with MPM has launched programs to double our rice production,” said Haedar on Saturday (20/9).
He added that Muhammadiyah’s dedication to agriculture has had positive impacts, extending the reach of its da’wah (proselytizing) to all corners of the nation.
Haedar also pointed out that Indonesia has long experienced “involution” (stagnation) in agriculture. To overcome this, he urged both the government and society to work together to break the chain of involution.
“We cannot keep standing still. Therefore, we must break this involution and strive to boost agricultural output so this sector does not stagnate,” he emphasized.
Finally, Haedar expressed hope that farmers will be given more space to innovate. In this case, Muhammadiyah and ‘Aisyiyah will continue to be committed to supporting agricultural innovation for national progress and food security.
“We must provide space for farmers to innovate. Muhammadiyah and ‘Aisyiyah, with their ethos of working more and speaking less, will remain committed to advancing this sector,” Haedar concluded.
