MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, KUALA LUMPUR– Board of Muhammadiyah Special Branch (PCIM) of Malaysia has entered a new era after being officially registered as Pertubuhan (organization) under the Registrar of Society Malaysia (ROS) since 2024. With this status, PCIM Malaysia is recognized as an organization devoted to benevolence and social affairs, not as a da’wah (proselytizing) organization.
According to records, PCIM Malaysia is the fifth branch to be officially registered in its respective country, after PCIM of United States, Japan, and Germany.
Sonny Zulhuda, Advisor to PCIM Malaysia, explained that the official name of PCIM in Malaysia now uses the extended form “Persatuan Cabang Istimewa Muhammadiyah Malaysia“, difffering from Indonesia, which still uses the word “Pimpinan”.
“This organizational status also allows PCIM Malaysia to expand its social activities, including building relationships with various national institutions, voicing concerns about national issues, and being involved in charitable and disaster-relief activities,” Sonny said.
In line with this, PCIM Malaysia also continues to strengthen its social enterprise. Among them, firstly, Rumah Hamka, owned by Syarikat Suryamu and managed by PCIM Malaysia, is currently awaiting approval from Majlis Perbandaran Selayang (MPS) to operate as a community activity center.
Secondly, Warung Soto Lamongan (Wasola), a food stall, which was initially an individual business, is now being processed to become part of Suryamu’s subsidiary so that ownership and management are stronger as assets of the association.
“PCIM Malaysia has truly entered a new era. With its official legal legitimacya, we are not only managing internal community affairs, but also play an active role in Malaysia’s social life. This is a great trust that must be carried out together,” he said.
He added that synergy among communities, social enterprises, and leadership is the key to the PCIM Malaysia’s future success.
“Congratulations and blessings to all parties who have accompanied and strengthened this struggle. God willing, with togetherness, PCIM Malaysia will become a center for da’wah, benevolence and social enterprise that brings widespread benefits,” he concluded.
