MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, JAKARTA — Muhammadiyah Aid, through the Muhammadiyah Institute for Zakat, Infaq, and Alms Management (Lazismu), has extended over IDR 27 billion in humanitarian aid to Palestinians since 2018.
“Since 2018, Lazismu has disbursed IDR 27,806,428,028 on humanitarian aid for Palestine,” said President Director of Lazismu Edi Suryanto on Monday (October 31).
The aid included food, daily needs, Ramadhan kits, sacrificial animals, hygiene kits, medicines, medical equipment, ambulances, and funds to reconstruct four mosques in Gaza. In addition, Lazismu provided scholarships to forty Palestinian citizens residing in Indonesia.
Lazismu has offered aid to Palestinians in Gaza and abroad, such as in Lebanon, by establishing a school for Palestinian refugees. The aid represents Indonesians’ support and empathy for Palestinians.
Lazismu also collaborates with Muhammadiyah Aid in empowering programs for Palestinians, including training in various areas such as agriculture, animal husbandry, sewing, graphic design, photography, smartphone repair, and other training to enhance the livelihood capacities of Palestinians.
President Director of Lazismu, Edi Suryanto, said that Indonesia’s solidarity with Palestine will continue, and he extended his gratitude to all donors who have supported Lazismu’s international humanitarian programs.
