MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, MEDINA – The development of Muhammadiyah in Saudi Arabia continues to show significant progress through various innovations and organizational expansion. President of Muhammadiyah, Haedar Nashir, during the Inauguration of the Special Branch Board of Muhammadiyah (PCIM) Saudi Arabia for the 2025–2027 leadership period in Madinah, Monday (3/11), expressed his appreciation for the growth of Muhammadiyah’s da’wah activities in the country.
Haedar noted that the growth of PCIM is highly important, especially as the Saudi Arabian government is currently carrying out various progressive transformations. Therefore, Muhammadiyah must continue to establish a strong foundation as the basis for its movement in various sectors.
“When in Rome, do as the Romans do. Besides adjusting to the rules and ethics in Saudi Arabia, strengthening a solid foundation must be done because from that foundation the movement can continue to advance,” said Haedar.
He added that this foundation is built through a strong organizational system and progressive initiatives.
“I believe that every step taken by Muhammadiyah will always bring goodness. Believe that when we continue to plant goodness, even as small as a zarrah (particle small), it will benefit many people,” he continued.
Haedar also reminded that when an effort succeeds and gains public recognition, leaders and members must not forget to muhasabah (self evaluation), so that the movement remains on the path of goodness and exemplary conduct.
Earlier, the Chairperson of PCIM Saudi Arabia for 2025–2027, Dicky Zulkarnain, presented the organization’s development and future strengthening plans.
PCIM Saudi Arabia, established in 2017, has now expanded to 12 cities across the country. It owns two community houses—Rumah Buya Hamka in Medina and Rumah Ahmad Dahlan in Mecca—as well as one operational vehicle donated by Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta (UMS).
“We also receive full support from the Indonesian government through the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) in Riyadh and the Consulate General in Jeddah, including facilitating the Muhammadiyah Special Branch Deliberation at the Embassy Residence,” said Dicky.
PCIM Saudi Arabia is also actively supporting the International Community Service Program (KKN Internasional) of Muhammadiyah-’Aisyiyah Universities (PTMA), particularly in assisting families of migrant workers. PCIM has signed cooperation agreements with several PTMA, including Muhammadiyah University of North Sumatra, Ahmad Dahlan University Yogyakarta, Muhammadiyah University of Malang, and Prof. HAMKA University Jakarta.
In the economic sector, PCIM has developed a business unit called Handlingmu, which provides hajj and umrah services for both Muhammadiyah travel bureaus and the general public. The unit has promising prospects for expansion, including opportunities to establish hotels and economic activity centers.
At the end of the event, PCIM Arab Saudi received grant assistance from Aisyiyah University of Yogyakarta and Muhammadiyah University of Malang, which was handed over directly by the respective university rectors.
